The Source: The Secrets of the Universe, the Science of the Brain
by Tara Swart
If our desires and intention are truly aligned, we can begin to “manifest” the life we want by engaging all our senses in the imagining and visualization of it—saying it; hearing it; visualizing what it looks, feels, smells and tastes like. In this way, our dreams begin to feel tangible to our brain. When we set a goal from the “intention point” what actually happens scientifically is that our intuition, our deepest emotions and our rational thinking line up and work in harmony rather than conflict. It’s almost impossible to reach our goals when we are out of kilter in these three dimensions.

The limbic system also has the job of deciding what we should retain as conscious thoughts and memories, which explains why it is also so important to raise our aspirations and future plans from non-conscious and vaguely defined to fully conscious.
Abstraction, or abstract thinking, is the ability of the brain to construct representations of things that are not present or definitive—to imagine possibilities, to see patterns where they were not obvious before and to join the dots.
Self-esteem issues resulting from a childhood where we were criticized at home or school or labeled as a non-achiever may mean we sabotage career opportunities because, at a deep level, we fear that we are not deserving of them.

"Visualizing in order to tackle a particular event is also hugely effective because it reverses the paradigm that any new scenario, person or place tends to be treated by the brain as a potential threat."
"Developing metacognition, or “thinking about thinking,” and becoming “aware of one’s awareness,” rather than functioning on autopilot is one of the main objectives of The Source."
- →Visualizing in order to tackle a particular event is also hugely effective because it reverses the paradigm that any new scenario, person or place tends to be treated by the brain as a potential threat.
- →What is key to remember is that our intention and focus are at their strongest when our goals align with our deepest life choices and values.
